How should i go about keep my distance & keeping him close?

There's this guy, his name is Aaron. we've been seeing each other for over a year now. & recently both just said I love you for the first time. Ironically we said it when we broke up. we have anticipation of getting back together, when the time is right. he's very busy in his life right now. he's in a band. they stay busy. he's currently unemployeed and wants to get a job. & he feels like i could do better, but doesn't wanna loose me. i love him to death and i can't imagine being with anyone else. i need advice on how to make him miss me or something. like how i can' speed up the process of him deciding he DOES IN FACT wanna be with me. & yes i know i can't MAKE him be with me but what are some things i could do?
